latest news

February 22th 2005

So the Tnuc's got the better of Casadeldisco Atletico this year. It did get a bit rough. This was particularly evident as the Victorian Softball League umpire stated, during the game, that she could well do with a bourbon! Keg was emtpy at bottom of the 8th. Final scoreline was 31-28 to the Tnucs.

No doubt about the fashions on the field though - damn we looked good losing!

Sommerset have scored the support for Green Day in New Zealand.

March 5th - Nothshore Events Centre, Auckland
with Green Day and Simple Plan

Some other big news for Sommerset - the track 'Inside' off the brilliant 'Say What You Want' album will be featured on United Airlines Inflight Entertainment during the month of May on all flights in the US every hour. That is a lot of listeners!

This addition to the United Airlines playlist stems from picking up some heavy spins on some pretty influential stations in the US. Go get 'em lads!

We wave goodbye to The Bleeders this week, who return home to write and record their major label debut. Some exciting news to come from their camp shortly. Their Australian tour was a huge success, and anyone who caught them while they were here will agree that they are a band that have a whole lot of fire in their eyes. We will be seeing them again on our shores shortly.

Blueline Medic & Ted Leo split is out on Monday - its good. Mark late April in your diary as "out on the town".

Chur, Casadeldisco.

February 18th 2005

Yo! Cuál era para arriba?

Its amateur softball at its finest and the Tnucs are out to avenge a crushing loss in last years blockbuster. But do they have the legs? Things got a little bit wild and out of control last year, so an officially sanctioned VSL Umpire has been engaged to officiate. Good move we say. Tnucs by name, Tnucs by nature. VICTORIOSO ATLETICO!!

The Bleeders have been tearing up the country with Day of Contempt and Good Charlotte. Casadeldisco went to the show at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne and our ears got OWNED by 12-14 year old girls squealing and crying!

The Bleeders album is out- Bombshellzine says its "As catchy as the flu". Its in all the very best stores now.

There are a couple of chances for anyone in Adeladies and Brisbong to catch The Bleeders in action this weekend.

Fri 18th Feb (Tonight!) Fowler's Live in Adelaide
with Day of Contempt, I Killed the Prom Queen and Cry Murder.
We bet there is going to be more boys wearing ladies jeans at that show than anywhere else in the country tonight!

Sun 20th Feb at The Rev in Brisbane
With Day of Contempt and Mourning Tide.

And if you would kindly do us the favour, please request The Bleeders 'All That Glitters' at the following media outlets:

Triple J Net 50
Type 'All That Glitters' into the track field and 'The Bleeders' into the artist field

Channel V: What You Want
Email: wantyouwant@channelv.com.au

The Casadeldisco Merch store is now open! Well just CD's at this stage but the is merch to follow shortly, including Casadeldisco Softball Merch - so we can look like a gang. A tough as nails Softball Gang - we know - its stuff your dreams are made of. Its set up through Paypal, so you know that it's a safe way to buy. We aim to be shipping stuff in 2-3 days of getting orders. None of this 6-8 weeks stuff.

Blueline Medic and Ted Leo and The Pharmacists Split EP is out on Feb 28th.
David Snow has whipped up some truly awesome artwork for this release. Dave did a similar set of dolls for the recent 'On The Wall' Skate Art Exhibition in Melbourne, of the rise and disfigurement of Michael Jackson - that shit sold for thousands!

Track listing looks like this:

Blueline Medic:
Newtown Rag
The Descision
Red Signs

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists:
Angel's Share
Six Months on a Leaky Boat
Tears For My Sorrowful Country

All of Blueline Medic's tracks are brand new - you've never heard them! And Ted Leo's tracks comprise one track from his new album 'Shake the Sheets' and a couple of tracks exclusively rerecorded with his band for this split.

Dates have firmed for a series of joint appearances at end of April.

Sommerset and The Bleeders owned the 2004 Punkas.com Awards recently. Sommerset took out album of the year (by a mile) while The Bleeders took out Band of the Year followed closely by Sommerset, and both bands ranked in the Top 5 Live Acts. Full run down at Punkas 2004 Awards

Sommerset have scored a big show on home soil - more news shortly.

Look out for a sampler in the coming months, Casa and NZ's finest, 1157 Records are planning a tasty little autumn sampler.

And we don't know if its going to be on the telly, but if it is, make sure you tune in and see St Kilda stick a boot, stops and all, right up Hawthorn's coit in this weekends opening round of The Wizard Cup.

We're off to get a rub down before tomorrow's title fight.
Salud, Casadeldisco.

Hola Deporte Entusiasta!

Well – we’ve gone and bought ourselves a sports team! Like all extremely wealthy corporations we went out and snapped one up just 'cause we can. They’re not exactly professional, and they do drink beer while they play. They are the mighty Casadeldisco Atelticos Softball Team (that’s right people, naming rights!).

We (we can say 'we' now because we OWN them!) face the fearless Tnucs from the southside of Yarra River on February 19th at Faulkner Park in Melbourne from 1pm. Come down and watch the game – its been an annual thing for a few years now – you are sure to see drunk men and women play softball quite poorly. Guaranteed! There are even a couple of brothers on opposing teams who will probably have a fist fight half way through the game. Oh and if you've ever played top level softball…there might be a spot on the team for you. Drop us a line.

OK..... on to more appropriate topics.

SOMMERSET
Sommerset are in the hiz-ouse! Nice. We have been waiting for the boys to come back for quite a while. Alas - it’s a fairly quick trip this time round – but more extensive touring is on the cards in a few months time.

Don’t miss these shows: Friday 4th Feb – Arncliffe Hotel, Sydney
with Perish The Thought, Behind Crimson Eyes (Vic) and Winter’s Underground

Sat 5th Feb – The Evelyn Hotel, Melbourne
with Behind Crimson Eyes, A Death In The Family and Rivken

Sun 6th Feb – Ampt Festival, Mornington (All Ages)
with Antiskeptic, Parkway Drive, Kiss Chasy and over 15 other bands, Skate Demos etc

Sweet as bros.

THE BLEEDERS
These fellas certainly made an impression on their lighting trip in December. So much so that Good Charlotte have decided to take them all over Australasia. And the timing is perfect – The Bleeders exclusive Australian mini album finds its way into stores on Feb 7th.

The Bleeders go on the road with Good Charlotte and Day of Contempt in Feb:

Wed 9th Feb Town Hall, Auckland
Thu 10th Feb Town Hall, Wellington
Sat 12th Feb Hordern Pavillion, Sydney
Sun 13th Feb Horden Pavillion, Sydney
Mon 14th Feb Royal Theatre, Canberra
Wed 16th Feb Vodafone Arena, Melbourne
Thu 17th Feb Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
Sat 19th Feb Convention Centre, Brisbane

Stay tuned for some red hot side shows with good pals and tour buddies, Day of Contempt around the Good Charlotte shows.

‘I Justo Wanna Rib’ as they would say in Japan.

THE NATION BLUE
The boys have a couple of final shows before the Big Day Out later this month and it will be awesome. Notice how they never allowed to play the same venue twice?! They’re brutal.

Check ‘em at: Sat 15th Jan – Spectrum, Sydney
With Further, Grand Fatal, Blacklevel Embassy, and SPOD.

Fri 21st Jan – Rob Roy, Melbourne
With Sinking Citizenship, Deep Down Where All Drown and Fibonacci

Sun 30th Jan – Big Day Out, Melbourne Fools. And just a quick shout out to Dan’s Mum for being Dan’s Mum.

BLUELINE MEDIC
The boys are putting the final touches on their side of the split with Ted Leo & The Pharmacists. Blueline’s tracks are all exclusive, brand new tracks. Your ears are virgin to these tracks. Likewise Ted Leo has two exclusive tracks and one track which appears on his amazing new album, Shake the Sheets.

And, yes, there is some talk of both bands sharing a tour bus at some stage.
So that’s it from HQ here – take it easy and make sure you go to some shows!

Cheers from the new giant in non-professional sports monopolisation, Casadeldisco.

December 15th, 2004

Hola Festival Revellers!

It’s almost Christmas time and we know you’re busy buying our Christmas presents, so we’re not going to bust your chops too much.

A few things to let you know about so they’re in your mind for the New Year...and also a reminder about our latest releases – cause we know your boss is paying you good money for all the work hours going into writing your Top 10 lists to send to Stu Harvey @ Short.Fast.Loud (its tonight on Triple J kids!). Its just like ARIAs for Punk Rock tonight – we’re feeling soooo ‘Delta’ (why don’t you call us anymore girlfriend?) right now.

The Nation Blue
The boys of summer will be making Bryan Adams proud with their debut BIG DAY OUT appearance. Be sure to watch their pale skin sizzle like bacon in the sun while they carve up the stage and possibly scare the children (who must be accompanied by and adult – and The Nation Blue WILL be enforcing!).

Train spotters in the audience – the first person to email us with the name of the cover song the boys have been playing in their set will win something... Something good even. Yeah. Sure. Why not.

If you can’t wait until January then make sure you check them this weekend:

Fri 17th Dec - EV's Croydon VIC A/A
with In Name and Blood, Sulo and Her Nightmare

Sat 18th Dec – Enigma Bar Adelaide SA
with Blueline Medic and Realist Few

Fri 7th Jan – The Espy St Kilda VIC
with Black Level Embassy

Sat 15th Jan – Spectrum, Sydney NSW
with Grand Fatal, Further, Blacklevel Embassy and Spod
(now this is a show NOT to be missed – hottest line up since B.C.!)

Now... We could cut and paste a load of quotes telling you about DAMNATION being one of the albums of the year, and how The Nation Blue continue to blow people away with their live show rah rah rah – but god knows we don’t like blowing our own trumpets around here... So we will let Dan’s Mum toot it for us....

"Hi Dan just got played your CD and I like it. Not just cause its you. Very diverse mix on songs and the boys are singing in tune! And I can understand them. My fav damnation and Solar Sonar" Dan's Mum via text 8/10/04

Sommerset
These boys don’t stand still for long, ‘ey bro?!. Choice.
Look’s like Sommerset are going to find themselves in all sorts of exotic lands next year as they prepare to release records in South America and Asia over the next couple of months. A little heat goes along way – make sure you tune into the Passport Approved show on INDIE 103 LA ( http://www.indie1031.fm/listenlive.html ) this Saturday 10am LALA time (about 5am Sunday morning) to hear tracks from SAY WHAT YOU WANT played.

As we type this our NZ friends are editing their new video together for their new single Faded. Its an anthem! You’ll love it. Its taken a little while to get finished off though because their video guy Andy Morton of Triple Double has been on tour in Antarctica with the NZ Airforce.……I know, I know – that’s what we said! Apparently they do have an airforce. Knowledge is power people!

Now kids – don’t stress SOMMERSET ARE RETUNING TO AUSTRALIA in the new year... Fine tuning the dates – and you will be the first to know about them!

If you’re in NZ – catch the boys one last time for the year:

Sat 18th Dec Kings Arms Auckland NZ
1157 Records Xmas Party
with Missing Teeth, This Night Creeps and Cold By Winter.

The Bleeders
After a quick introduction to our fine shores (special thanks to Gyroscope, The Nation Blue, Hitlist, No Grace and INAB) The Bleeders returned home to NZ to get cracking on a new album.

We’re sure by now you have heard all about how good these guys kick out the jams live, make sure you check out their debut mini-album when it’s released on Casadeldisco Records on FEB 14th. Happy Valentines Day peep’s! Hearts, Bleeders, blood – it all works so well!

At the start of this year The Bleeders opened the small stage at the Auckland Big Day Out – at the beginning of next year they will be playing the sunny spot on the main stage – not a bad way to bookend 2004 – And a very nice kick start to what will be a huge 2005 for this band.

Drum roll thanks…………

Blueline Medic / Ted Leo & The Pharmacists

That’s right – we aren’t just talking loud here – the charming lads of Blueline Medic are moving into the Casadeldisco condo with a sexy little split e.p with our new friend Ted Leo and his good mates the Pharmacists. Massive shout out’s to Lookout Records for making this happen. For those of you that haven’t heard Ted Leo yet – google the man now! Or head to www.tedleo.com, his new album ‘Shakin the Sheets’ is a masterpiece.

But shhhh, we may have said too much already about this one – we can’t show you all our cards just yet!

So happy holidays – play it safe and make sure you get out and see heaps of shows, see some movies and read some books!

Hola!

Just a quick one today - a hot review just in for The Nation Blue Damnation:
"Hi Dan just got played your CD and I like it. Not just cause its you. Very diverse mix on songs and the boys are singing in tune! And I can understand them. My fav damnation and Solar Sonar" Dan's Mum via text 8/10/04

Getting through to mum is equal to gold records - go boys!

November 12th, 2004

Hola!

Things are bubbling away here at Casadeldisco... A few nice little projects look set to sail in 2005... We can't say too much yet but we are once again, very excited!

THE NATION BLUE

The Nation Blue album is out now and blowing minds nation wide... Check out what Kerrang! and Blunt had to say:

“After you pick yourself up off the floor, you’ll agree that Damnation has put this Melbourne threesome firmly in a league of their own……… Damnation is one of my Top Ten Australian albums ever and that’s keeping company with the likes of ACDC, Midnight Oil, The Church and more” Blunt Oct 04

“One of the only bands in Australia that can lay claim to being a truly dangerous band…. Tom had smashed his guitar into the roof, sending down shards of broken roof tile all over the stage, cutting his head and hands open in the process…NOW THIS IS HOW TO PUT ON A ROCK AND ROLL SHOW!” Kerrang! Nov 04

After last weekend in WA where they probably played with the dolphins, nibbled on marinated feta cheese and sipped (little finger sticking out!) Organic Chardonnay while they were hanging out with Bon all weekend, the boys are STILL making their way cross country, you can check them out at the following dates:

Sat 13th Nov – The Venue, Hobart TAS Licensed All Ages This show marks the triumphant homecoming after four years for the boys! (Insert hilarious Tasmanian jokes here)

And speaking of islands out in the middle of the ocean, some international touring on the cards for the boys!

Fri 19th Nov – Kings Arms, Auckland NZ with (hows this for a line up?!) Sommerset, The Bleeders, Scotty Rocker’s Cold By Winter. Now if you’re a Kiwi and you miss this show – be ashamed. Very Ashamed.

Sat 20th Nov – Car Yard Kaos, Kingsland NZ with Graveyard Rumble, Poisoners and The Cinix. All Ages 5pm start.

And then the big one. HEADWEALTH at TLC in Bayswater. This is an All Age show like the old days. Like…15 bands over two stages. This is an important show for Melbourne. Its part of the PBS FM 25th Anniversary Concert Series. Tickets are ONLY $15. Snap ‘em up peeps. Headwealth on PBS 106.7FM – Thursdays from 3pm.

Sat 27th Nov – TLC, Bayswater with Bodyjar, 28 Days, Kisschasy, Tiltmeter, Behind Crimson Eyes, Dekoma Arms to name a few of them. More info at www.pbsfm.org.au

Fri 3rd Dec – The Corner Hotel, Melbourne with Gyroscope and The Bleeders. This kinda like the Auckland show. Melbourne – if you don’t go to this show, you’ll have nothing for the top spot of your Top Ten Gigs list for the end of the year. GET DOWN!

SOMMERSET

Sommerset have just finished their three months of touring fury across Europe. Once again racking up the miles as they played shitloads of shows in less days than sain people would try and do them in. Kings of touring - yes they are. Unfortunately bigger things called for them to hold off on a planned Australian run for December but as long as all you boys and girls are good little boys and girls we promise to have Sommerset back in Australia for you in the early New Year, with dates already being locked in.

However, the Sommerset boys will be whipping around New Zealand like Santa in his sleigh - check out the tour dates:

Fri 19th Nov – Kings Arms, Auckland
Sat 20th Nov – Hamilton
Fri 26th Nov – Indigo, Wellington
Sat 27th Nov – Whakatane
Sun 27th Nov – Brewers, Mt Maunganui

THE BLEEDERS

Well that’s a new name you say? Indeed it is. Now, the Bleeders are just going through the roof in NZ. Charting singles, Delta-like fan dissing exits from radio station etc and we’re going to get a taste here in a few short weeks.

They’re treating us to an early Christmas bonus! The Bleeders are going to drop in on Melbourne on the weekend of 2nd, 3rd & 4th of December. Sadly, a ‘time-not-permitting’ type deal means Melbourne are the only lucky pricks this side of Christmas. Never fear – extensive touring on the cards for the New Year.

Check out The Bleeders on these dates:

Thu 2nd Dec – The Arthouse, Melbourne with Hitlist (whose new record rules!), No Grace and In Name and Blood.
Fri 3rd Dec – The Corner Hotel, Melbourne with Gyroscope and The Nation Blue. (What a show!)
Sat 4th Dec – The Tote, Melbourne. A huge All Ager with Fonzie (Portugal), Last Years Hero, Dekoma Arms and more.

Look out for a hot little release from the Bleeders in the New Year.

So I guess its going to be Top Ten lists next Casadelmailout?! If you’ve got a suggestion for a Top Ten list – let us know. If you’ve got some kinda weirdo Top Ten list of your own – send it in so we can get a laugh at your expense.

Shit, I just noticed Atmosphere is on the Big Day Out this year! That rules. Get that album if you haven’t already. Top record!

ROB SAWYER

Now – this one comes a little bit from left field but if you’re partial to a little bit of acoustic action – check out Rob Sawyer at www.purevolume.com/robsawyer Rob is from Frankston and this fella can play the guitar! Theres something in the water down there for sure.

And finally, thanks to being publicly humiliated the Bombshellzine mailout, Casadeldisco will not be opening a betting shop as previously planned. Bomber kindly pointed out that our tip for the Caulfield Cup was probably a cardboard cutout horse.

Til next time…

October 15th, 2004

Hola!

It’s been a while since drinks, so to speak – truth is we thought the election was 4 weeks ago. We got drunk on what we thought was Election night, and the friggin results took forever to come in. 56 trips we took back to the bottle shop.

Shitloads going on. We’ve had a couple of big records on our hands this year with newies from Sommerset and The Nation Blue, and we’re madly planning for next year.

Just before we get into it though – our good friend Ally just broke up with her boyfriend and needs a date for the Nation Blue launch at Ding Dong. Give her a call on (03) 95133508. She loves Blacklevel Embassy and Further so she wants to be there early.

SOMMERSET
Still criss-crossing all over Europe and the UK, the boys are due home next months with a few stories to tell.

Like, how about – Why lying naked under trucks on the freeway might be fun:
http://www.sommerset.co.nz/pages/tourdiary2004/019.htm

WARNING: Reading Scotty Rockers Tour diary will NOT make you a more intelligent person, but you may have a better understanding of the stuff your parents used to warn you about.

I swear Sommerset must be writing the scripts for that Back of the Y program from iNZed hey?!

Speaking of scripts and filming and shithouse segues – Sommerset are shooting 2 videos in Germany at the moment. Expect to see videos for Faded and In Between surface in the next few months. Neither involves good German jokes apparently.

ENOUGH ABOUT THEM – LETS TALK ABOUT US!

Casadeldisco will be having a little Christmas party this year. Info soon – stayed tuned…just remember – the more you vote for our stuff - the more beer turns up at the Christmas party.

And one last thing before we go – a sneaky $50 on Delzao for the Caulfield Cup tomorrow. Index finger to nose – tap tap!

See ya!

September 14, 2004

Hola bello gente!

DAMN! What an album…….The Nation Blue have delivered and the early mail says red hot! DAMNATION is instore September 27th.

So when we got the album back from mastering, the right thing to do would be shrink-wrap them all and wait until it was instores so we could all open them at the same time and listen to it together. That sounds like a script of an Orange ‘we share’ ad. But we couldn’t stop ourselves from listening and we wouldn’t be that mean to you either. So we made an E-CARD. It features 2 two tracks from the new album, ‘Damnation’ and ‘Good Behavior’ CHECK IT HERE!

And were not going to leave you in the lurch by just giving you a couple of tracks – we want you to HEAR THE WHOLE ALBUM BEFORE IT COMES OUT! That’s right, Qtip the ear holes – you get to hear the whole thing. On Wednesday the 22ND of SEPTEMBER, an hour before the best national punk show any where in the world, SHORT.FAST.LOUD on Triple J, we will stream the entire album for you to listen to online.

The boys were shooting the video for the track ‘Damnation’ last night– should be on your TV screens in early October. Shot and directed by (strictly big budget) guerilla film maker Matt Weston, expect a dark twist on the opening number of the new album.

This is what young Thomas had to report from ther shoot: Tonight was our deadline to squeeze out another couple of sit-ups and try and lose those extra coupla kilos before our current physical states are immortalized on film forever. The last time we ventured into these waters was for “Heart is a Phantom Limb” on a hot day in December 2001. (?) That clip is available for consumption on the media page of this site and it might be worth a look before our new clip for “Damnation” is launched in early October.

Captain Matt Weston was at the helm, and located one of the most depressing locations I have ever seen and I worked in a paper mill for six years. At the end of the service road that we snaked along at about 6:30pm was a muddy small strip of dirt caged in on one side by the ominous pilons of citilink and on the other the service yards of Melbourne Trains. It didn’t make a lot of sense at first but as the last rays of light imploded and the cold dark set in the city skyline appeared through a polluted haze of fluorescents and silos.

We set up our gear in the mud as Lou, Jeremy, Marty, Matt and Scott unloaded their trucks and vans. Matt wanted to complete the gloom by lighting the area with the headlights of cars.

After working tirelessly to iron out our imperfections, Ki finally got our heads to a presentable level and it was time for the first take. We thrashed it out in the mud for four minutes and at the end of the take all collapsed into our respective cars to try to cool down. I guess the idea was to tear things apart for four minutes at a time but at the end of every take it feels like you have played an entire 45 minute set. We did 8 (?) takes.

Dan turned in the performance of the night with a mesmerizing drum take note perfect. When you play live you don’t really get a chance to observe the other members of your band at their peak and it was nice to sit back and watch both D and Matt do what they do best. Matt’s vocal takes were like a scene out of “The Boys”, I had no idea he looked that frightening mid scream, usually its all cheeky dancing and air-cocks.

The crew changed the angles on some of the shots and completed the close-ups and the night for most of us was over, We stripped the mud from our gear and packed everything up and left Weston and DOP Marty and Jeremy to cruise the suburbs in search of the morose to complete the visual nightmare. The word on the street was that they wrapped the shoot up around 5:30 in the morning. Marathon effort kids. We would love at this point to acknowledge the brilliant work of everyone involved. Big thanks to Lou, Jeremy, Scott, Ki, Matt, Marty and Weston for putting together something that compliments our music perfectly. Within a week we should have a clip and within a couple more it should be on your tv.

And then comes the juicy part of the story – The Nation Blue’s, Triple J’s Short.Fast.Loud and Bombshellzine presented “ACROSS THE DAMNATION TOUR”.
Dates all over the country for the next 3 months – if there is a show within 300kms of where you live, you’d be a twit to miss it!

Things keep getting better in Europe for the Sommerset boys – The Germans won’t let them leave the country. Sommerset have made the grade in Kerrang’s latest issue. KERRANG 50 MOST ESSENTIAL BANDS TO WATCH…

“WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: They’re New Zealand’s best band

** The Nation Blue only

Heaps more dates to be added, so keep your eyes and ears open!

A DAMNATION listening party will be announced soon and you’re all invited.

Check the Casadeldisco Records site on Friday to see/hear a brand new THE NATION BLUE e-card and to get more listening party de-tales!

SOMMERSET have been added to the main stage of a sterling festival in Austria called TWO DAYS A WEEK, which is rad because it’s a three day festival. When Thursday pulled out Sommerset were asked to take their place - playing above The Bronx and below headliners The Distillers, The Dropkick Murphys, Velvet Revolver and The Offspring. Does it get any better than that? Festival details here.

If you’re quick, you’ll catch their set – its today.

SOMMERSET’S album SAY WHAT YOU WANT is out now.

SOMMERSET are nominated for Best Rock Video for their new video “Say What You Want” in the 4th Annual Juice TV awards (NZ). Great video too, Australians will see it on their screens in the coming months. Think ‘The Wanderers vs. BMX Bandits’ and you’ll get an idea of what the video is all about.

In WARPED (RIP) news, they have been nominated on the ARIA Awards shortlist for Rock Album of the Year and Best Group. Good Luck to them, although we’re guessing it’s going to be Jet’s year this year. The Cat Empire will get a look in too we reckon. But a couple of oddities from the ARIA voting – the absence of The Hilltop Hoods awesome album (maybe this fell into last years??) and the inclusion of a very NZ act? Father-son ruling perhaps?

TA big 'Hola' to you all!
Theres been heaps happening, so we thought we'd keep you up on whats been going on down in the barrio.

SOMMERSET NEWS:

Sommerset have left our shores for their European vacation - that is if you call 50+ shows in as many days a VACATION! The guys plan on swinging back our way in November - so you better start learning all the lyrics to the new songs now.

Huge shout outs to everyone that came to the album launch tour, Bombshellzine, all the bands that the guys played with and all the promoters along the way that helped the band out - No thanks to the Sydney venue who cancelled the gig at the last minute even though the guys had a contract in place. Want to do a favour for us? Text “Thanks a lot asshole” to 0408507664. Doesn’t really serve a purpose, but hey, we’ll feel like we’ve had one over him.

Melbourne peep's - Did everyone hear the PBS live to air? It was a ripper of a set from a rather hung over band we thought. Good onto Headwealth for setting it all up for the guys. You can still catch the Sommerset album spinning off the dial as PBS 106.7FM made SAY WHAT YOU WANT as the feature Album of the Week.

Other notable tour mentions include Scotty Rocker (the tech) and Stefan being beaten up and thrown down the stairs at the Viper Room in Melbourne at 4:30am on a Monday morning. We’d say, more than likely, they deserved it, if only for the reason that they were at THAT bar at THAT time of the morning. Scotty did say he was trying to dance with a girl whose two male ‘bodybuilder’ friends had leopard spots in their hair. Says it all!

Do check out Scotty’s hilarious tour diary at http://www.sommerset.co.nz/pages/tourdiary2004.htm . Chances are you’ll find him on myspace. Actually, he’s probably tried to pick you up on myspace already. Say ‘hi’ to him from us.

Also thanks to the Mondo Bizzaro boys at Triple R who didn’t call the police when the band refused to leave the studio. Top notch patience displayed by both Nick and Sammy T!

If you like what you have heard of the album by now - how about ringing up Triple J and telling them too? Please call or email or vote and request INSIDE by Sommerset. It would be peachy to hear Sommerset on Triple J!

Big congratulations to both Sommerset and Ivy League, who last week signed each other up to a publishing deal. Handshakes, tequila & peyote slammers apparently sealed the deal. Ivy League Music, home of the Vines and The City Lights among others, made the announcement earlier this week.

"Partnering up with Sommerset is a really exciting venture for us" says Andy Cassell, co-owner of Ivy League Music. "Their first single 'Inside' is one of the best rock songs of the year."

Anyway - here is what some people have been saying about SAY WHAT YOU WANT...

"Say What You Want should have a place in every self respecting punk fan's record collection" KKKK Kerrang!

"Awesome production, strong vocals, and hooks galore, 40 minutes of your life you'll want to repeat over and over again." PEE

"Sommerset have released Say What You Want and there's the undeniable fact that they've raised the bar once again for NZ rock core and are convincing anyone who comes within inches of this monstrous album that the band cannot be ignored" Beat

"Good, hard, fast, honest rock/punk... if there was a school of rock, this album would be the textbook. Production is impossible to fault, the sound is huge, fat guitars and drums, awesome vocals, awesome songwriting." Bombshellzine

"NZ's Sommerset have been around for a decade, but it's a new focus on power rather than frantic speed that have lifted this punk-rock outfit up to pure stadium-worthiness with SAY WHAT YOU WANT. Think Pacifier with more of a punk ethos - big power chords, big sound, one big smash hit of an album" Lifelounge.com.au

"Sommerset belt out the biggest rock album of the year...Say What You Want has a power all of its own, it literally sounds like you are in a stadium having it blasted into your brain." The Brag

"Sommerset's new single INSIDE barrels in like a rough mix of KISS's Detroit Rock City before Ryan Thomas starts barking like Lemmy after a weekend of cigars and brandy. Consider it advance warning of the high energy new album SAY WHAT YOU WANT" Citysearch.com.au

THE NATION BLUE WILL SLAY YOU NEWS:

So by now, everyone knows the new album DAMNATION is complete and ripping record stores apart late September.

Referencing the haunted streets of old Melbourne, the artwork cover features Stephenson St, Richmond where the notorious Dennis Allen owned 9 houses and chainsawed the legs off a Hell’s Angel to fit him in a 44-gallon drum. Did you know Andrew Dominic (yes, he directed Chopper) took the photos for the album sleeve?
Yep! They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Well, the beholder of this artwork may be the devil himself. Think suburban crime scene on the 10 o’clock news an hour earlier than the crime was committed. An overwhelming suggestion of evil in the air…….now you’re getting an idea of how the artwork looks.

Another interesting fact for you is Scott McCloud of Girls Against Boys
laid down some vocals for the album on a rooftop in New York City – the track is called Solar/Sonar and it will blow your mind.

Missing Link have agreed to let the boys break their equipment and possibly their bones at a free all ages gig on Sunday September 26 – so mark that date in your diary now. A big tour to be announced soon.

I think that is all we will giveaway about THE NATION BLUE album right now. Spread the word. We will be digging this record up soon for some listening parties - so if you want to be the first to know about them keep checking our updates.

The Nation Blue have finished their rekkid! Done and red hot!

Sommerset have left the building! After a wild couple of weeks on the road with Gyroscope, the Sound Shattering Sound Tour came to an end Sunday night with a sellout show in Adeladies. Drinks and farewells continued until it was time to drive back to Melbourne. So the boys have returned to iNZed to kick of their home leg of album launch shows. We look forward to seeing them back here on the Bombshellzine.com presented album tour shows. Check the shows page for dates near you.

New Sommerset Ecard will be here in a couple of days, featuring 2 full tracks and some nice flash-y type stuff.

July 2, 2004

SOMMERSET's first single 'Inside' will debut tonight on Rage. Dunno what time but its during all the new releases and is sure to be wedged in between JT and some who doesn't eat properly. Nah, not really, looks like a bit of a rock special tonight. Stay up late and check it out!

On the other side of the channel, in East Tamania (NZ) their second single "Say What You Want' debuted on C4. They're everywhere! Apparently also a great video. Haven't seen it yet, but will report as soon as we do. Now, make sure you're voting for this stuff. Stuff doesn't get played on merit alone these days, you know. We need some dial-power on the radio stations and internerd power on the online vote stuff. Where ever you normally do that stuff, go do it.

The Nation Blue are back in Metropolis this weekend. The album is 3 days away from completion. Looks like they have some evil photgraphs all line up for artwork. So evil, apparently, they (the band) have BLACK FLAMES shooting out of their ASSES. (Hows that for a little bit of People Magazine text sizing). These boys are so well connected, they even, have superstar guest artists do their artwork for them.

Whisperers' are whispering that THE NATION BLUE are heading down the coast to blow the heads off some kids with Magic Dirt in a few weeks. Warnambool (?) are going to be the first to cop an earful of the new album, before the lads disappear back in the dark corner hone the evil for forthcoming national touring. Fingers seem to be pointing at a mid-September demolition of record stores up and down the east coast, followed by a national outing in October.

Stay tuned.......

June 18, 2004

We're back. After a few weeks off the desk getting a nip and tuck in the throat (painful as fuck! believe me), but I don't stop breathing when I sleep any more, so I figure I'm a little bit safer for having suffered.

SOMMERSET were in Sydney last weekend (Well, Ryan and Andrew Buckton their studio wizz) to master their new record at 301. What a record! Its a Sommerset record, if you know what I mean. Makes you want to dance.

Getting closer now for the NZ release - July 12th. Look out for the new video for 'Say What You Want' Kiwi's....its on the telly from this weekend. Aussies - The video for Inside will be floating around this week also. Don't forget about SOMMERSETS side show at Vic on the Park next week. Should be a good one. Support from The Reason, who have a new EP out through Resist.

***Sunday 27th Vic On The Park Sydney NSW***
***SOMMERSET OWN SHOW***

The Nation Blue have finished tracking and are due to mix in a couple of weeks. They will be guided by the ghost of Johnny Farnham. He's not dead though. I did hear that Tony Danza had kicked the bucket though......Can anyone confirm?

Sommerset are touring!

To celebrate the release of their new album SAY WHAT YOU WANT, SOMMERSET return to Australia, giving their Australian audience first preview of the new tracks and a fresh reminder of the older songs.

The first single INSIDE, distils their vitriol and power into one concise, lethal package and sets it to a murderously catchy rocking riff. Immediately added to high rotation across New Zealand radio, and sure to be heard a lot across the Australian airwaves.

The new Sommerset album is almost done. Mastering in a couple of weeks in Sydney town.

Warped are putting together a DVD and a Best of for the end of the year. Production for the movie/DVD begins next week and should cover the best part of 13 years of Warped - from the footage of the first show with Cris and Benny as 13 year olds right through until Quick Ways to Black Eyes. Live footage, photos and audio recordings are still be accepted if you've got and crazy Warped crap laying around your house.
