Recorded at York St Studios in Auckland by Andrew Buckton.

Album Notes from Ryan:
Recording our new album really began in October 2003 when we recorded a new single - "Inside" - which set a precedent for how the album would be recorded and how it would sound. Drums were done at York Street Studios, one of Auckland's best. All following tracking (bass, guitars, vocals etc.) were done at Studio 203, Andrew Buckton's (our engineer) own studio. Using two studios got us the most time for our money, and Andrew is always most comfortable working in his own studio. The rest of the album began in February when we started work on the next single "Say What You Want", and carried on until the end of May. Working at a previously unchartered level of attention to detail (our previous album was tracked in just over a week) proved hard to fit in around full-time jobs and Andrew's other commitments and we had to force ourselves at times to find creative solutions, including a week where the studio was relocated to Ryan's basement (the band's practice room). By early-May 'studio-fever' began kicking in, sore throats abounded and assistant engineer Ben fell down the studio stairs and smashed three bones in his right wrist (tequila was involved somewhere too). Vocal duties were shared by Ryan and Milon, something of a first for a Sommerset record, Milon even adjusting to a last minute decision that saw him take lead vocal duties on "Say What You Want". When all tracking was finally completed (the album spent more than two weeks with "just a little more to do") Andrew had a week to mix the ridiculous amounts of guitars and vocals before he and Ryan went over to Sydney's Studio 301 to master the album.

Album Notes from Brett:
warped made a record once. we ended up calling it 'quicker ways to blacker eyes'. it was put together in 2003. we started intense writing/rehearsing in january and the record was in shops by november.the process felt like 100 years, not 10 months. we tracked the drums and bass at sing sing platinum. matthew tanner of casadeldisco fame reckons it was his lucky studio. so yeah, drums n' bass.....22 songs = 2days. twas engineered by a lovely, talented fellow by the name of matthew voigt. shane o'mara was there to oversee proceedings and to wear white bonds t-shirts. then we moved over to the yikesville complex in yarraville. shane live and works there. we then plugged away for an eternity doing guitars and vocals. we worked and re-worked. did and re-did. chopped and changed. you get the picture. slipped back over to sing sing platinum (lucky studio) to mix it all together. this took a week of our time. ran the pro-tools versions to half inch analogue tape to: a)make it sound nice, b)kick it ol' school just a lill' bit and c)to keep the albini in us all a little bit happy. this was a long week. we argued a bit. when the week was over i got to see further play at the forum, then the nation blue play a secret show at the greenroom, then got really drunk at cherry. earn it i did. so i grabbed the dvd masters, jumped on a plane and got steven smart to master the little bastard at 301 studios which is in alexandria, a suburb of sydney. that process took 2 days. we'd scapped some songs by that stage, knocking the record down to 12 tunes. at the end of the 2nd day, i walked to jjj with a freshly master rekkid under my arm and handed it to the music directors. ended up becoming album of the week upon release. hooray. i probably ate at sarays the night mastering was finished because i've been known to do that. the end.
